Gov. Andrew Cuomo and celeb chef Sandra Lee call it quits after 14 years

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and celebrity chef Sandra Lee have split.

The couple confirmed in a joint statement to journalist Zack Fink on Wednesday that they're calling it quits after 14 years of dating.

"Over the recent past, we have realized that our lives have gone in different directions and our romantic relationship has turned into a deep friendship," they announced. "We will always be family and are fully supportive of each other and dedicated to the girls. Our personal lives remain personal and there will be no further comment."

Confirmation of their breakup comes months after they listed their six-bedroom home, "Lily Pond," when Lee denied reports that they were living apart after having split.

"Nothing has changed. We're still together," she said at the time. "And to set the record straight we're not getting married or not getting divorced or not pregnant and my blood type is B positive not B negative, selling the house, the world is not following apart."

The couple were introduced by a mutual friend at a party in the Hamptons back in 2005. Since then, they've maintained a relatively low-profile despite their constant presence at public events.

Lee rose to fame with multiple cookbooks and cooking shows, the most famous of which was "Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee," which aired on the Food Network from 2003 until 2011. The show earned her a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lifestyle/Culinary Host.

Cuomo assumed office in 2011. Although there was speculation that he'd make a 2020 presidential run, he's denied any interest and said earlier this year that former Vice President Joe Biden has the "best case, because he brings the most of the secret ingredient you need to win, which is credibility."
