Rod Stewart cleared after secret three-year battle with prostate cancer

Rod Stewart opened up about a three-year battle with prostate cancer — an illness he had previously not spoken about publicly.

The singer said during a fund-raiser in England on Saturday that he was diagnosed with the disease in 2016 and, after receiving treatment, was cleared by doctors this past July, according to CNN.

“No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody,” Stewart, 74, said at an event on behalf of the Prostate Project and European Tour Foundation.

“I’m in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early," he said. "I have so many tests.”

Stewart was previously diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2000.

During Saturday’s event in Sussey, the “Maggie May” rocker urged others to get checked out by doctors regularly.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer said his diagnosis came after he went in for a routine check-up three years ago.

Stewart, 74, has frequently performed live in recent years and is set to kick off an eight-concert residency in Las Vegas beginning Wednesday and running through Oct. 5.
