Police searching for ‘The Wire’ actor who escaped custody after being taken to Baltimore hospital

A former actor on “The Wire” has escaped custody after being taken to a Baltimore hospital last week and is now the subject of a police search, officials said.

Christopher Clanton Sr. had been taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital to be checked out following his arrest last Thursday, police said.

He allegedly left the medical facility on Friday.

Baltimore Police are now looking for Clanton, 33, who appeared on nine episodes of “The Wire” as Savino Bratton.

Arrested for 'violating a protective order'

Officials had brought Clanton to the medical center before taking him to central booking due to a “pre-existing medical condition” that was not disclosed, according to police.

Baltimore Police said in a Friday post on Facebook that Clanton was arrested for “violating a protective order." The arrest occurred in Baltimore’s Northern District.

In a post on his own Facebook page early Saturday morning, Clanton contended that he was by himself and was able to easily leave the hospital. He also claimed that he saw a police officer using cocaine, and that the officer had threatened to claim he’d found a gun in Clanton’s possession.

A spokesman for the Baltimore Police Department told The Baltimore Sun that he was not aware of Clanton’s claim on Facebook.
