Melanie Griffith gushes about Dakota Johnson's romance with Chris Martin

Melanie Griffith has given her full support to daughter Dakota Johnson when it comes to her relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The 62-year-old actress talked to People at the Farah Fawcett Foundation's Tex-Mex Fiesta in Beverly Hills over the weekend, where she gushed about Johnson and Martin's romance.

"I love my daughter's boyfriend," she beamed. "I think that they're an awesome couple."

Her comments came just over a year after she told the outlet, "I adore him! But [Dakota] is very private about her life, and I respect that."

Other than a brief breakup earlier this year, Johnson, 29, and Martin, 42, have been dating since the fall of 2017. They're famously extremely private about their relationship and have never publicly confirmed that they're dating. They've never posed on a red carpet together, either.

The couple shares a tight-knit bond not just with each other but also with the rest of Martin's family, including his children, Apple, 15, and Moses, 13, as well as his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, and her new husband, Brad Falchuk.

This summer the two couples were photographed enjoying a beach day together in the Hamptons.
