Popular ‘Project Runway’ contestant Chris March dead at 56 from heart attack

Chris March, the perpetually jovial “Project Runway” contestant who demonstrated a flair for bold, dramatic fashion, has died at the age of 56.

TMZ was first to report that March passed away from a heart attack on Thursday.

The death of the designer, who appeared on Season 4 of the reality series, was confirmed by Andy Cohen on a Friday Instagram post.

“This is how I’m going to remember Chris March,” wrote Cohen, “Dressed as Lisa Vanderpump as I wear a Giggy costume he made for one of our first Halloween specials.”

March had reportedly been in and out of hospitals over the past two years after nearly dying after a serious 2017 apartment fall in which he struck his head.

For four days he laid unconscious, according to a previous statement he released to Entertainment Weekly.

After being rushed to the hospital in 2017, he underwent a tracheotomy and was placed on a ventilator after his organs began failing and his right lung collapsed.

He was then put into a medically induced coma.

“My kidneys failed, my lung kept collapsing, my gall bladder was infected,” said March in 2018. "I came close to death many times. They called my family and they were told if they wanted to say goodbye to come right away. "

But March woke up despite paralysis in both legs from the knees down.

After reaching the final four on “Project Runway,” in which he lost to now-famous designer Christian Siriano, March starred on his own series “Mad Fashion,” designing custom-made outfits for the likes of Meryl Streep, Lady Gaga and Madonna.

Prior to “Project Runway,” March served as the costume designer for the long-running musical revue “Beach Blanket Babylon.”
