Bernie Sanders shuts down Meghan McCain in cringeworthy exchange: 'Johnny is not dead'
Sen. Bernie Sanders paid a visit to "The View" on Wednesday, where the Democratic presidential hopeful fielded questions about his campaign — and, predictably enough, engaged in a slightly cringeworthy exchange with panelist Meghan McCain.
Saying she was "curious" about "bipartisanship," McCain, whose father is the late Sen. John McCain, challenged Sanders to name congressional Republicans with whom he has a good working relationship.
"Johnny Isakson of Georgia, who is recently retiring," Sanders replied, adding, "Your dad was somebody I worked with."
"But they're dead and now —" McCain pressed.
Sanderes responded, "Johnny is not dead."
.@MeghanMcCain: What Republicans can you work with?
Bernie: I worked well together with your dad and @SenatorIsakson

During a less tense moment duing his appearance on "The View," Sanders chuckled when Whoopi Goldberg referred to him as "B": "So, B..." she began.
"Yes, Whoopi," he gamely responded.
Bernie Sanders tells @TheView that 2020 is different than 2016 because "many of the ideas that I talked about," including universal health care, "were perceived to be radical," but now "a lot of candidates and the majority of the American people agree" https://t.co/AfEIFrfeM5pic.twitter.com/I0agcjRKNe

Although he faces competition from a jam-packed field of candidates, Sanders is currently polling as one of the strongest contenders in the race. He, former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Kamala Harris are considered the frontrunners in most recent polls.
