Larry King shocked his wife by filing for divorce: Stunning new details emerge on what led to their split (reports)

Larry King blindsided his wife by filing for divorce.

News broke earlier this week that the CNN host, 85, had filed to end his marriage of 22 years with wife, Shawn, and Page Six reports that she found out about the split via reporters who were contacting her after uncovering Larry's divorce papers at a Los Angeles courthouse.

Shawn, 59, was reportedly "totally surprised" when she found out about her husband's move when she was away on vacation with family in Utah.

That being said, in his divorce filing, Larry listed the date of separation as June 6, which is over two months ago. He cited "irreconcilable differences" as his reasoning for wanting a divorce.

Meanwhile, TMZ reports that Shawn doesn't plan on fighting her husband's push for a divorce "because she's been told by doctors he's dying." The outlet cites sources who have apparently been in contact with Shawn who say that Larry has been "in and out of the hospital over the last 6 months, and she says doctors have told her Larry doesn't have much longer to live."

He was indeed hospitalized back in April after experiencing issues with his heart, but his camp denied reports claiming that he had suffered a heart attack.

TMZ also says that the television personality was pushed to file for divorce by his two sons Chance, 20, and Cannon, 19, after their mother personally asked their father to change his will and trust. While sources close to Larry say that her "endgame was to get more for herself and screw the kids out of their inheritance," insiders on her side said that her request was at the behest of their estate planning lawyer.

Larry and Shawn King's 22-year marriage was marred by multiple rounds of cheating allegations in 2016 and in 2010, when Larry filed for divorce after the National Enquirer reported that Shawn had carried on an affair with one of their son's baseball coaches. He later pulled his filing.
