Mark Hamill on original 'Star Wars' screen test footage with Harrison Ford: 'First day I ever met him'
A long, long time ago, in a studio not so far away...
Mark Hamill added some context this week to a little-known video that was circulating online, revealing that the black-and-white footage of him and Harrison Ford was captured on the very first day they'd met. The two actors were brought in to film a screen test for a movie they knew absolutely nothing about.
"My screen test for 'Star Wars' with Harrison on the first day I ever met him," Hamill tweeted Sunday. "Neither one of us had read the script at this point, only this one scene."

He continued, "I asked George [Lucas] what kind of movie it was," to which Lucas answered, "Let's just do it, we'll talk about that later."
"We never did talk about it later," Hamill said. "We just did it."

Hamill and Ford were both newcomers on the Hollywood scene when they were cast as Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, respectively. The 1977 release of "Star Wars" would spawn a full trilogy, and both men would reprise their roles in 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Earlier this year, Hamill showcased his remarkable impression of Ford's unmistakeable gravelly voice during an appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers."
