Did Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston reunite for their shared dog's funeral?

Jennifer Aniston seemingly joined her ex-husband, Justin Theroux, to bury the beloved dog they shared.

Theroux posted a series of photos of their white shepherd mix, Dolly, laying peacefully in the grass, her body dotted with flower petals. In one of the photos, a man's hand and a woman's hand are shown interlocked. In another, the two hands together wrap Dolly in a blanket.

"Tonight, at sunset, after a heroic struggle... our most loyal family member and protector Dolly A. laid down her sword and shield," Theroux wrote on Instagram. "She was surrounded by her entire family."

Courteney Cox, Aniston's "Friends" co-star and one of her closest pals, commented on the gallery, "We love you Dolly."

Although Theroux did not mention his ex-wife by name, fans had no doubt that the anonymous hands belonged to the former couple. "I'm sorry for your and Jennifer's loss. She was a beautiful dog. Glad you could both be there for Dolly," one fan wrote.

Theroux also urged fans to "adopt, don't shop" and referred to Dolly as a "rescue dog." Aniston adopted Dolly as a pup in 2006, five years before she started dating Theroux. The exes were frequently photographed by paparazzi walking Dolly together in the years before their split.

In 2011, after Aniston's dog Norman passed away, she had his name tattooed on her foot.

Theroux and Aniston wed in August 2015 and announced their separation in February 2018.
