Actor Karl Shiels dies at 47: 'Peaky Blinders' star was allegedly 'on crutches' before passing away

Actor Karl Shiels, who appeared in numerous stage plays and starred in the 2013 series "Peaky Blinders," has died. He was 47.

Shiels, who was also known for his role in "Batman Begins," was a frequent star of Ireland theatre productions. His agent called him a "remarkable force" who was "hugely loved and respected by all who worked with him."

Details of Shiels' passing remain unconfirmed, but a report from The Sun alleges that he "died in his sleep" after repeatedly "falling asleep" on set of of Irish soap opera "Fair City" during filming. Insiders also claimed that Shiels was "seen on crutches and in a lot of pain" in the days before his death.

Shiels had been a series regular on "Fair City" since 2014.

The actor occasionally posted on Instagram, but his most recent photo is from several months ago, when he posted a cute shot with a baby in April.
