David Chang and Chrissy Teigen's Hulu show's format still 'to be determined' (Exclusive)

David Chang and Chrissy Teigen's upcoming show for Hulu, "Family Style," is still a work in progress.

When the show, which is a collaboration between Chang's Majordomo Media, Teigen's Suit and Thai Productions and Vox Media Studios, was initially announced back in May, it was described as a show exploring the connection between family and food through group cooking and dining.

AOL's Gibson Johns asked Chang about the show, which is part of a larger two-year deal with the streaming giant's "Hulu Kitchen" initiative, at a private dinner he hosted for the enhanced American Express Gold Card, and he said that he and Teigen "don't want to reveal too much" about the show just yet.

The show's exact format, Chang said, is "to be determined," but their mission is clear: "We just wanted to make something that people are going to enjoy, and that's pretty much all I can say."

That being said, the Momofuku Restaurant Group founder and Teigen go way back, and he told AOL that he's been enjoying his collaboration with the best-selling cookbook author.

"She's been coming to our restaurants pretty much from the get-go, so it's fun to get to work with her, as you can imagine," he smiled.

For Chang's private AmEx dinner in New York City this week, the award-winning restaurateur put together the so-called "Perfect Summer Dinner," which included a slew of summer staple dishes like fresh, simple salads and flavorful meats. His approach to putting together summer meals, he told us, is to just keep it easy.

"Whatever's casual, family-style and easy," Chang said. "We have brisket, we have fried chicken. Just keep it simple! That's what I think: Simple and tasty."

"It's not about trying something new or going back to stuff that works," he added about cooking in the summer. "It's about reverse-engineering the 'celebration' and [cooking] foods that make you feel celebratory because of a specific day or occasion, like this event for the enhanced American Express Gold Card. The menu should be fitting."
