Prime Day Concert: Taylor Swift steals the show as she emphasizes telling lyrics

Updated

Taylor Swift is at the top of her game -- liars and dirty dirty cheats in the world be damned.

The "ME!" hitmaker headlined the 2019 Prime Day Concert Presented by Amazon Music at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Wednesday night, and people think that she took a veiled swipe at Scooter Braun during her performance, which was live-streamed on Prime Video.

The moment came as Swift closed out her set with "Shake It Off" and sang the lyrics, "Just think, while you've been getting down and out about the liars and the dirty, dirty cheats in the world, you could have been getting down to this sick beat." Fans watching on the Prime Video live stream noticed that the singer unquestionably placed extra emphasis on "liars and dirty, dirty cheats of the world," with many positing that she was alluding to her current feud with Braun.

Other that stressing some of her most angsty lyrics, Swift delivered a straightforward, top-notch performance of her greatest hits in front of thousands of adoring Swifties. The audience, which included the likes of pal Gigi Hadid, former "Bachelorette" Andi Dorfman and "The Affair" actress Maura Tierney, couldn't get enough of the lively show.

Swift performed hits like "I Knew You Were Trouble," "Love Story," "Blank Space," "Style" and "Delicate," in addition to her 2014 love letter to the Big Apple, "Welcome To New York," which she sang acoustic.

The singer also performed her latest single, "You Need To Calm Down," live for the first time on Wednesday night, and it was clear that Swift was excited to finally deliver the high-octane tune to a live audience as lyrics from the song flashed on the screen behind her in rainbow bubble letters (including the fun "GLAAD" callout). "You Need To Calm Down" also featured one of the loudest screams of the night when Swift sang the lyrics, "Shade never made anybody less gay!"

Before Swift's lively performance, a trio of other top-selling female artists took the Prime Day Concert stage to perform a slew of their own hits: Dua Lipa opened the show with the likes of "Electricity" and "One Kiss," Becky G sang several of her hugely popular Spanish-language songs like "Sin Pijama" and "Mayores" and SZA sang some standout tracks from her acclaimed debut album, "CTRL," in addition to debuting a beautiful cover of Sixpence None The Richer's "Kiss Me."

Throughout the 2019 Prime Day Concert, which was hosted by former "Glee" actress Jane Lynch, there were several big promotions of Amazon Prime's most highly anticipated upcoming shows, including "Modern Love." Lynch's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" co-star Michael Zegan joined her onstage at one point, as did actress Erin Moriarty, who stars in Prime Video's upcoming superhero drama, "The Boys."

If you weren't able to live stream the 2019 Prime Day Concert, don't worry: Prime members can watch the show back -- featuring select songs from the performances -- for a limited time on Prime Video right here.
