Son of 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' hospitalized days before Beth Chapman's funeral

One of Duane "Dog" Chapman's children was hospitalized this week, just days before his wife's funeral.

Fellow bounty hunter Leland Chapman, 42, was working alongside his dad to chase down a fugitive in Alabama when he suffered a severe knee injury. While struggling to subdue the suspect, Leland tore his ACL. He remains hospitalized and will need surgery, according to AL.com.

The father-son team were embarking on their first bounty hunt since the June 26 death of Leland's stepmother, Beth Chapman, whose funeral service will take place on Saturday. It's not clear whether he'll be able to travel to Colorado for the ceremony.

A film crew was present during the incident, recording the capture for upcoming WGN reality show "Dog's Most Wanted," a spinoff of the original "Dog the Bounty Hunter."

Leland is Duane's second oldest child. Years ago, Duane lost custody of his two oldest kids after being convicted of first-degree murder in a drug deal gone awry. However, he later would later re-gain custody of Leland and his brother. The now-grown men have worked for their dad's bail bonds company for many years.

Duane, who has been married five times, has 12 children in total. Some members of the blended family appear to be close, regularly posting photos with their half- and step-relatives on Instagram.

In addition to his eldest sons, fans are familiar with 32-year-old Lyssa, known as "Baby Lyssa," who co-starred on "Dog the Bounty Hunter." In the years following the show, she divorced her then-husband and stopped working in the family business. She is currently engaged to a woman named Leiana, and they own a tanning salon.

Although Lyssa and stepmother were feuding on social media in recent months, the two reportedly put their differences aside before Beth's passing.
