Is Harry Styles playing Elvis Presley in upcoming Baz Luhrmann biopic?

Harry Styles may be slipping into some blue suede shoes.

The "Sign of the Times" singer is reportedly a top contender for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming biopic about Elvis Presley, which will officially announce its lead in the coming weeks.

Styles faces competition from a handful of more seasoned movie stars, including Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort, both of whom have starred in Academy Award-nominated films. That said, Styles has checked off the Oscars box himself: He had a small but significant role in "Dunkirk," which won three Oscars and was nominated for another five in 2018.

The former One Direction singer has also demonstrated during concerts and talk show appearances that he can easily slip into an American accent.

Already slated for the Presley biopic is Tom Hanks, who will play famed talent manager Colonel Tom Parker, the man largely credited for making the southern crooner a superstar. Parker would manage Presley for two decades.

Few details are known about the scope of Luhrmann's script, but it seems evident from the casting rumors that it'll mostly focus on the singer's younger years. Presley was in his early 20s when he suddenly became a household name with his No. 1 hit "Heartbreak Hotel." That same year, he would make his film debut in "Love Me Tender."

Presley died in 1977 at age 42.
