Alice Cooper and his wife do not have a 'suicide pact,' despite his recent statements

Alice Cooper is clarifying recent statements that indicated that he and his wife have a suicide pact.

The rocker, 71, recently told The Mirror that he and Sheryl Goddard, his wife of 43 years, refuse to go on without the other: "We always said there will never be a time where one of us will be mourning the other," he said. "Whenever it does happen, we are going to go together."

Calling Goddard his "best friend," he continued, "There is no way of surviving without each other."

But Cooper has since told USA Today that his passion for his wife was a bit misconstrued. The Mirror framed it as a "death pact," but in reality, it is a "a LIFE pact. We love life so much."

"What I was meaning was that because we’re almost always together, at home and on the road, that if something did happen to either of us, we’d most likely be together at the time," Cooper said. "But neither of us has a suicide pact. We have a life pact."

The couple of more than four decades shares three daughters: Calico, 38, Dashiell, 34, and Sonora, 27.

At least one of their children is following in her father's footsteps: Calico sings in a band named Beasto Blanco.
