A whopping 14.5 million people tuned in to see James Holzhauer lose on ‘Jeopardy!’
James Holzhauer set a ton of records during his 32-game domination on “Jeopardy!” including setting near marks for each of the top-10 highest single-games scores.
Holzhauer’s ratings weren’t too shabby, either.
According to newly released Nielsen data, Holzhauer’s final appearance on the show that aired on June 3 drew a massive 14.5 million same-day viewers making it the third most-watched regularly scheduled program from the 2018-19 TV season (behind only episodes of “The Big Bang Theory” and “60 Minutes”) and the highest-rated episode of the long-running syndicated quiz show since Ken Jennings’ brought in 18 million viewers on his final episode during his original 74-game run.
Three other episodes of Holzhauer’s run landed in the top 10 in Nielsen ratings, as well, though that does not factor in streaming or DVR numbers.
Unfortunately for “Jeopardy!” after Holzhauer’s departure from the left-most podium on the studio stage, the ratings have fallen back to earth.
In the week of June 3-9, the series averaged 10.8 million viewers.
