Fox Nation host Britt McHenry accused co-host Tyrus of sexual harassment: report

Updated

Former co-host of Fox Nation's "Un-PC" Britt McHenry reportedly filed a sexual harassment complaint against her then co-host, Tyrus, with Fox News management.

The Daily Beast reports that the former pro-wrestler was quietly kicked off the show earlier this year after McHenry complained that he had been sending her unsolicited lewd text messages. Speculation arose that something was amiss behind the scenes when the Fox News streaming service announced in May that Tyrus was getting his own show, "NUFFSAID," following his exit from "Un-PC" in April.

Tyrus (whose real name is George Murdoch) hasn't appeared on the semiweekly streaming show since April 12, but no official announcement was made about his exit. Tom Shillue has been co-hosting with McHenry ever since.

Sources close to the situation told The Daily Beast that Tyrus often exhibited explosive behavior on set, often making "politically incorrect jokes."

"He's got a wild sense of humor, if we're being generous," one female Fox employee explained.

While McHenry, Tyrus and Fox News have all declined to comment on the matter, journalist Jeremy Barr privately reached out to Tyrus via Twitter and was shut down when he brought up his relationship with McHenry.

"No comment and don't message me again," Tyrus responded before blocking Barr on Twitter.

The Daily Beast pointed out that some of Tyrus' past on-air comments about sexual harassment in the workplace are particularly notable amid claims that he harassed McHenry during their time on "Un-PC" together.

The Fox News personality issued a warning to viewers of Dana Perino's daytime show not to text their coworkers unless they have a "strong relationship" with one another: "Something could go wrong. You could go from sending a message about lunch to sitting in HR," he said in April.

McHenry used to be a reporter for ESPN before being laid off in 2017. Her reported allegation is just the latest in a long list of sexual harassment allegations to come out of Fox News, where the late Roger Ailes was ousted as CEO after multiple women came forward with claims against him. Former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly was also famously accused of misconduct by multiple women before leaving the network.

Update: Fox News released a statement to AOL addressing reports that Britt McHenry filed a sexual harassment complaint against her former "Un-PC" co-host, Tyrus:

"While we are not at liberty to discuss the details of any employee matter, we follow strict protocols when matters such as these are brought to our attention, and we make no exceptions. The process works because of the extensive systems and measures we have instituted. This situation was independently investigated and we consider the matter resolved. We respect the confidentiality of all involved."
