David's brother, Andy Spade, wed Kate in 1994. The two were reportedly suffering from marital troubles and had been living apart for ten months when Kate died by suicide at age 55 last year.

Kate and Andy shared one child, Frances Beatrix, born in 2005. She's three years older than David's daughter, Harper, who was born in 2008.

Although the extended family lived on opposite coasts, David adored and was close with his sister-in-law. After her death, he donated $100,000 to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

"Kate and I during Christmas family photos. We had so much fun that day," he captioned a photo of the two. "She was so sharp and quick on her feet. She could make me laugh so hard. I still cant believe it. It's a rough world out there people, try to hang on."

Kate was also aunt to "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" star Rachel Brosnahan, who shared a family video after her passing.

If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, please call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at (800-273-8255).
