Adam Sandler asked Adam Levine to perform at his daughter's Bat Mitzvah: 'I don't even know why I did this'

Adam Sandler snagged a major star to perform last-minute at his daughter's Bat Mitzvah, and it only took one text.

During an appearance this week alongside Jennifer Aniston on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Sandler explained his spur-of-the-moment request: Just days before 13-year-old Sadie's Bat Mitzvah, he was in his car, trying to come up with ways to make it extra cool.

"It's a big deal, the Bat Mitzvah's a big deal, all our friends were coming, and I don't even know why I did this, but I was like, 'I'd love to do something special for my daughter, I love her so much, blah blah blah.' You know, everybody loves their daughter, but whatever," Sandler told Kimmel.

"For some reason I started texting Adam Levine, who's a great guy. I text him, 'I'm sorry to do this to ya, my kid's getting Bat Mitzvahed Saturday night, would you mind coming and singing a few tunes? It would be incredible.' I don't know why I did it," he said.

To his surprise, Levine responded right away: "I can't say no to you. Where?" he texted back. As it turned out, Levine grew up in the area and went to dozens of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs at the same synagogue as a kid.

Absent from the big night was Aniston, although she was definitely invited: The "Murder Mystery" revealed to Kimmel that they've been friends since around age fourteen. Aniston dated one of Sandler's friends as a teenager (although she was quick to shrug off that label, so perhaps it wasn't exactly a serious relationship).

Aniston wasn't able to attend Sandler's daughter's Bat Mitzvah, but Sandler joked she sent along a hefty gift of $1.2 million.

Sandler is also dad to younger daughter Sunny, 10, which means he's got three years to figure out how to possibly top Adam Levine as a surprise Bat Mitzvah performer.
