Kelsey Grammer applauds Trump, says Washington politicians are a 'bunch of clowns'

Updated

Kelsey Grammer doesn't believe his support of Trump has affected his career.

In a new interview with CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour, the "Frasier" star opened up about the correlation between his Hollywood career and his political beliefs.

“I’m not aware of taking a [career] hit for it but now, certainly passions run high, and certainly he [Trump] has touched on an extraordinarily passionate response...I don't know if it's as serious or horrible as everybody wants it to be," Grammer said.

"I was wondering whether you thought... many people believe this sort of fabric is being disrupted," Amanpour responded.

"Well, I think fabric being disrupted is a good thing," Grammer replied. "I don’t think Washington didn't do us any favors for the last 50, 60 years, I think they’ve all been sort of the same party, the same bunch of clowns, the same bunch of really unpleasant people. And I don’t think they’ve been helping anybody but themselves."

Grammer, who is currently starring in "Man of La Mancha" in London, also touched on if America will be able to unite amid the current political divide stirring the nation.

"We'll be just fine...we've been through a lot worse," he said.

Back in April, Grammer's ex-wife Camille, who is part of the "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," took heat for defending Trump's appointed Supreme Court Justice, Brett Kavanaugh.

"I just have a different point of view on this one...she didn't have enough evidence," she said of Kavanaugh's accuser, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, on the fiery episode. "When you are gonna go up against the Senate with something like that, you better have your witnesses lined up because that's a very tough thing."

Teddi Mellencamp replied "Isn't that sickening to say?"
