Meghan Markle, Prince Harry met with Gayle King ahead of royal baby's birth

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had an unexpected visitor at Frogmore Cottage ahead of royal baby Archie Harrison's arrival.

Page Six reports that "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King visited the couple's new home at Windsor Castle days before their son's birth on May 6, but it wasn't on camera.

Though King has a special, "Meghan and Harry Plus One," which is set to air on May 17 -- the one-year anniversary of the couple's royal wedding -- the interview won't be part of the CBS special event, which was filmed in London two days before Archie was born.

Sources called King's visit a "private event," which makes sense given that King was at Meghan's star-studded New York baby shower in February. She was also at the royal wedding last year as a correspondent, not as a guest (though BFF, Oprah Winfrey, did attend the ceremony).

The insiders added that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have "not given any interviews or participated in any official capacity for the special."

They did, however, partake in a brief interview during their royal baby photo call at Windsor Castle two days after Archie Harrison's birth, where Meghan expressed her gratitude to the international public for sending well wishes after they welcomed their first child into the world.

"Thank you, everybody, for the well-wishes and the kindness," she said. "It just means so much."
