'Toxic' Norah O'Donnell out at 'CBS This Morning': Is Gayle King to blame?

Updated

Norah O'Donnell is reportedly out at "CBS This Morning."

Page Six reports that CBS' premiere morning show is receiving a major overhaul, with a mostly-new group of co-hosts that doesn't include O'Donnell. Gayle King is reportedly set to stay on and will be joined by "CBS This Morning Saturday" co-anchor Anthony Mason and CBS News correspondent Tony Dokoupil.

The outlet cites sources who say that King was instrumental in pushing her "toxic" co-host out, claiming that a majority of people at the network find her "difficult" to work with. King cemented herself as a necessary presence at the network after her widely-praised sit-down interviews with R. Kelly and his girlfriends.

The longtime news personality has been in contract negotiations all spring, and Page Six reports that King demanded that O'Donnell be pushed out as part of her stipulations for staying. Sources say that King could double her current $5.5 million salary as part of her new contract.

The report explains that O'Donnell won't leave CBS altogether, however. In fact, she's reportedly been offered a "monster" anchor deal at the network, which would include taking over for Jeff Glor at "CBS Evening News," which has been struggling in ratings since he became anchor in 2017. She will also remain at "60 Minutes."

For his part, fellow "CBS This Morning" co-host John Dickerson will move to a political role at "60 Minutes." The report comes one month after news broke that Bianna Golodryga would be leaving the morning show after less than six months.
