Brazilian model Caroline Bittencourt drowns after reportedly jumping off sailboat to rescue her dogs

Brazillian model Caroline Bittencourt tragically drowned after she reportedly jumped from a sailboat to try and rescue her two beloved dogs on Sunday.

The victim and her husband, Jorge Sestini, were enjoying time on a catamaran with their pets off the coast of São Paulo when they encountered a massive storm, TMZ reports.

Raging winds up to 60 mph allegedly knocked the dogs off the vessel, leading Bittencourt to jump into the ocean in an attempt to save them. Sestini quickly followed his wife into the swell.

Although Sestini was rescued a few hours later, Bittencourt's body was discovered near Cigarras Beach in São Paulo late on Monday.

Bittencourt's daughter, 17-year-old Isabelle, took to Instagram to confirm her mother's death, writing, "We are grateful for the support and affectionate messages we have received from Carol's friends and fans. This energy drive fills our hearts with so much love."
