Oprah Winfrey is not running for president in 2020: 'I know my path, and my path isn't that'

Oprah Winfrey is not running for president — and any idea that she would, she said Wednesday, baffles her.

"The Daily Show" host Trevor Noah asked Winfrey point-blank: "Is Oprah Winfrey running for president?"

The question draw rousing cheers and applause from the audience, but Winfrey told the crowd, "You don't even want that to happen."

Although her longtime best friend, "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King, said Winfrey should "do it for the country," Winfrey says she told her, "I have such a beautiful life! Why would I want to put myself in that?"

She continued, "I know my path, and my path isn't that. But whenever I decide who I want to support, I will get behind that person."

Winfrey also joined Noah for his "Between the Scenes" online segment, during which they took questions from the audience. (Noah warned the crowd to make it count: "Don't ask her what her favorite color is.")

During the Q&A session, Winfrey said she's thinking about opening a school in the United States in the same vein of her South Africa academy. Watch in the video above.

Although Winfrey hasn't explicitly chosen a favorite candidate for the 2020 presidential election, she expressed support for former Georgia representative Stacey Abrams later on Wednesday during her keynote address at the 2019 Women in the World Summit. Abrams is not a declared presidential candidate.
