Johnny Manziel confirms 'very sad' split from wife Bre Tiesi

It's over for Johnny Manziel and his wife, Bre Tiesi.

The former NFL star confirmed the speculation around her marriage to TMZ this week, calling his split after just a year of marriage "very sad."

"This is all very, very personal and very sad," he said. "I appreciate everyone who has been so supportive of both of us, and I would just ask that everyone respect our privacy at this difficult time."

Rumors started swirling that the couple was on the rocks when Tiesi deleted all traces of the football player from her Instagram account, including photos of him and his last name from her username. The model added fuel to the fire earlier this week when she responded to a slew of Instagram comments accusing her of only wanting to be with Manziel for his money, saying that "vows were broken."

"U been married? U been betrayed? I don't do betrayal for a person I was devoted to period," she wrote. "Vows were broken f--k money and f--k u and every other loser on here."

The couple got secretly married last spring one year after their 2017 engagement. They started dating in 2016.

In his statement to TMZ, Manziel expressed his desire to continue focusing on rebuilding his career, which currently involves playing for the Memphis Express in the Alliance of American Football league.

"My hope is to put my head down and be allowed to focus on work and what is required of me on the football field," he said.

Manziel joined the AAF after being kicked out of the Canadian Football League for breach of contract. He hopes to eventually rejoin the NFL. He was booted from the Cleveland Browns three years ago.
