Conflicting reports suggest possible shake-up at 'Access Hollywood': Is Mario Lopez replacing Natalie Morales?

Is there a co-host shake-up looming at NBC?

Headlines circulated this week that "Access Hollywood" co-host Natalie Morales has been booted from the network and that Mario Lopez, who currently anchors "Extra," will take her place, possibly as the show's solo host.

However, an "Access" exec speaking to Page Six said the information is not accurate: "This is not true. Natalie has not been fired. She is and will continue to be a huge part of the NBC family."

Although NBC is discrediting the report that Morales has been fired, the inside source did say that in the months ahead, Morales will "likely" exit the show and Lopez will "likely" join it.

Rumors of Lopez's impending transition picked up after he was tapped to host last year's Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting in New York. He currently anchors "Extra" from LA.

"Access" is co-hosted by Morales and Kit Hoover.

“We are planning on blowing up the current format of the show and making Mario the star," an insider told the Daily Mail.

The latest reports are heavily powered by the exit of "Access" executive producer Rob Silverstein, who is leaving the show after 20 years at its helm.
