Felicity Huffman, Lori Loughlin mug shots: Department of Justice confirms they won't be made public

Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin's mug shots will likely never see the light of day.

USA Today confirmed with the Department of Justice that the actresses' booking photos will not be shared with the public, citing its policy that such images are only released when a "fugitive has not yet been captured."

Wondering why, then, so many mug shots are released? That's because authorities make exceptions in certain circumstances, such as to alert people that a dangerous person is in custody. Given that neither Loughlin nor Huffman is a presumed threat to the public, there is no valid reason to circulate the images.

"Once a prisoner has been arrested, the general rule is that no release should be made because release of photographs of that prisoner to the media or public would not serve law enforcement purposes," A U.S. Marshals Service policy reads.

Both Loughlin and Huffman are facing federal charges in relation to the college admissions cheating scheme that was busted this week in a massive FBI operation. Huffman posted $250,000 bail while Loughlin's was set at $1 million.

It is unclear whether their children will face ramifications. USC has reportedly said it will evaluate affected students on a case-by-case basis. Whether or not each child was aware of the illegal behavior will be a determining factor.
