Taylor Swift's stalker arrested for breaking into her home -- for the second time

A man accused of stalking Taylor Swift was arrested in New York City on Thursday morning after breaking into the singer's apartment.

Police told NBC News that Florida resident Roger Alvarado, 23, who had just recently been released from jail for allegedly stalking the pop star, climbed a ladder and threw a brick through the window of a second-floor window of Swift's TriBeCa townhouse at around 2:30 a.m.

No one was at the home, which is currently being renovated, at the time of the invasion. Alvarado tripped an alarm while breaking into Swift's home, prompting officers to show up and arrest him. He's expected to appear in court later on Thursday, and his lawyer told NBC that she was unable to contact him.

Alvarado had been released from jail on February 5 after serving a six-month sentence for breaking into the singer's home last April. During his first break-in, he reportedly used Swift's shower. She was not home that time, either.

This latest incident comes just a few days after Elle magazine published an essay written by Swift for its April cover in which she discusses stalkers, as well as the conflicting feelings she felt during her international Reputation Stadium Tour following the deadly 2017 attack in Manchester following an Ariana Grande concert.

"I was completely terrified to go on tour this time because I didn’t know how we were going to keep 3 million fans safe over seven months," Swift wrote. "There was a tremendous amount of planning, expense, and effort put into keeping my fans safe."

"Websites and tabloids have taken it upon themselves to post every home address I’ve ever had online. You get enough stalkers trying to break into your house and you kind of start prepping for bad things," she continued. "Every day I try to remind myself of the good in the world, the love I’ve witnessed and the faith I have in humanity."
