Tom Hanks' grandkids have no idea he's famous: 'They don't care'

Could it be? Tom Hanksis an iconic actor, but his son Colin Hanks told Us Weekly exclusively that the Toy Story star’s granddaughters have no idea how famous he is.

“They don’t care about him at all,” the Life in Pieces actor, 41, admitted at the Good for a Laugh comedy benefit to support War Child USA and INARA on Friday, March 1.

In fact, Colin said that the time Olivia, 8, and Charlotte, 5, spend with their grandpa, 62, is “like every other playdate with a grandparent. The grandparent gives them stuff they shouldn’t be having, and the grandparents don’t listen to what the parents are saying they should be doing.”

The Band of Brothers alum, who shares his daughters with his wife, Samantha Bryant, said that they aren’t aware of how “cool” he is either — even though Colin reminds them “every day.”

“Children are great humblers,” he told Us. “They don’t care what you do [or] … what you have done. They just want to do their kid stuff.”

Colin and Bryant tied the knot in 2010 and started growing their family one year later. They welcomed Olivia in 2011 and Charlotte in 2013.

The actor’s stepmother and Tom’s wife, Rita Wilson, told Us after the couple’s second pregnancy announcement that she couldn’t wait for the birth of her second grandchild.

“[I’m] so excited!” she said. “Very beyond!”

Colin’s daughters now go to the same school as his ex-girlfriend Busy Philipps‘ kids — Birdie, 10, and Cricket, 5.

“We got our first television show the same week,” the director said of the Busy Tonight host, 39, during a January 2017 episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan. “We got our first movies within the same week. We were able to go through these really special moments in young actors’ lives together. Now we also get to do morning school drop-off together!”
