Selena flirting with fellow rehab alum Zac: ‘It’s a recipe for disaster’

Zac Efron and Selena Gomez have recently been growing close but their friends are opposed to the duo dating, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.

“There’s definitely an attraction” between the former Disney Channel stars who have “been hanging out and talking,” but the concern lies in their “highly sensitive personalities.”

“A lot of people think their chemistry is a recipe for disaster,” a source told Radar. “Both of them tend to go off the rails when they’re not living a fully focused, hyper-regimented lifestyle with a team of helpers keeping them on track.”

Despite their friends’ concerns, Efron and Gomez, who got along well on the set of Neighbors 2, “have downplayed any fear” and are “enjoying the fact that they’ve reconnected,” the source added.

Efron, 31, and Gomez, 26, both have a history of going to rehab to cope with their issues.

Efron made headlines for his alcohol and drug abuse.

A source previously exclusively told Radar that his addiction drew concern to close friends and family as far back as 2011 and they feared he could one day relapse.

Readers know that Efron, who has used a variety of drugs including Adderall, cocaine and marijuana, has since been tied to two rehab stints, an attack in the Skid Row district of Los Angeles and a revival from party guests after overdosing on oxycodone.

In an effort to focus on his sobriety, Efron avoided after parties and attended the 2014 Oscars with a sober coach.

Gomez, on the other hand, has been open about having lupus as well as the anxiety and depression she experienced from having this condition. The singer has had multiple stints in rehab, raising concerns from her family and friends. As Radar previously reported, they were actually the ones who “urged her to get help” and enter treatment at a psychiatric facility in October.

According to reports, Gomez’s mental health crisis hit while she was hospitalized for low white blood cell count. As Radar reported, her family and mother Mandy Teefey believed it to be a result of her drinking habit and reckless partying.

Gomez, 26, is also “going to therapy, working with a psychiatrist and is just trying to stay really active.”
