Meghan Markle will not be permitted to tour the streets of Rabat in Morocco this weekend.

According to the Express, the pregnant Duchess of Sussex will be advised to remain under the tightest of security while touring the country, due to the riots in the capital city of Rabat. While Markle and Prince Harry traditionally go on walks throughout the cities they tour, Rabat has been experiencing significant tumult as a result of riots over teacher pay and healthcare.

Princess Diana’s former protection officer Ken Wharfe said the cancellation of any walkabouts is clear sign that the royal family is concerned about safety. “One thing is for sure, Meghan’s propensity for getting among the crowds will not be encouraged on this trip,” Wharfe told the Mirror.

“From my own personal experiences ‘our man’ will question the Moroccans’ ability to deal with it,” Wharfe continued. “The fact that there is no Royal walkabout is very telling. This would suggest that the UK protection team who did the original recce saw this as a red line. Executing an evacuation is naturally fraught with dangers. “

However, the Moroccan weekend will still include many exciting adventures for Markle and Prince Harry. The Express reports that the royals will hit up a variety of spots while in Morocco this weekend, including an equestrian center, a cooking demonstration and tour the Andalusian Gardens.

The Duchess of Sussex, who is expecting her first child in April, celebrated her baby shower at The Mark in New York City earlier this week alongside friends Serena Williams, Abigail Spencer, and stylish Jessica Mulroney. She flew back to London on Wednesday night on a private jet, reportedly paid for by friend and shower attendee Amal Clooney.
