Faith Hill's father dies at 88; Tim McGraw pays tribute to 'the sweetest, kindest most gentle man I’ve ever known'

Country star Faith Hill’s father has died at 88.

Ted Perry’s passing was revealed by Hill’s husband, fellow artist Tim McGraw, in a series of Twitter posts Tuesday.

McGraw wrote that Perry died last week.

“He was the sweetest, kindest most gentle man I’ve ever known....... No man in my life has ever made such an impact on me as to how to be a human, a father and a friend,” McGraw tweeted, along with a video and photo tribute to his late father-in-law.

“I’ll never, in 10 lifetimes, be able to live up to his example, but man, he has set a mark that all of us should strive for,” McGraw continued.

“His legacy will live on through the 3 beautiful souls he raised, Faith and her brothers, Steve and Wesley... I’m sure a day will not pass for the rest of my life , that he will not show up in my thoughts. We all love you G Pa.”

Perry and his wife Edna adopted Hill when she was an infant. They raised the singer in Mississippi.

Edna died in 2016 at the age of 80.

Hill, who is known for hits such as “There You’ll Be” and “This Kiss,” has not publicly commented on her father’s death.
