Grammys 2019: Ariana Grande calls Cardi B's win over Mac Miller 'literal bulls--t'

Updated

Ariana Grande was not happy when Cardi B won Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

In two tweets that the singer deleted right after she posted them, she said "trash" and "literal bulls--t." At first, people on Twitter thought that Grande was shading the "Bodak Yellow" hitmaker for winning the award, but the singer clarified that she was mad that her late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, wasn't given the award.

When a fan explained "Ariana isn't shading Cardi, it's cause Mac didn't win," the singer responded, "nothing to do w her. good for her. i promise. i'm sorry."

Another fan responded to her tweet saying "she's trash tho," which prompted another clarification from the "thank u next" singer: "she's not at all and that's not what i meant and u know that."

Later, a third fan pointed out that the Recording Academy invited the late rapper's parents to attend the ceremony, but didn't give him the award.

"this. this is what i meant," she replied. "karen was gonna have a green suit made. [...] he slept in the studio for two months."

Ariana Grande and Mac Miller dated for years and broke up in the spring of 2018 weeks before Grande got engaged to Pete Davidson. Miller died later that year in September of an overdose.
