Super Bowl LIII: Here are the best halftime shows of all time

Let's be real, the best thing about the Super Bowl is the halftime show.

Ever since the NFL rebranded the mid-game break in 1991 to feature mainstream artists and bands, the biggest gig in music has welcomed massive names like Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Aerosmith, Prince, Katy Perry and Madonna, just to name a few.

After Justin Timberlake exposed Janet Jackson's breast live onstage during the 2004 halftime show, the NFL famously strayed away from pop acts for several years and invited safer classic rock acts to perform during the quick gig that's watched by upwards of 120 million people worldwide. Those included Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Bruce Springsteen.
