Isabelle Adjani: See the French sex symbol then and now

Some people are just born with it. Isabelle Adjani is one of them.

The French actress made a splash in the early 1970s, and by the age of 19, she became the youngest woman ever nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. (She held the record for three decades!) And it wasn't just her acting prowess that captivated audiences: Famed film critic Roger Ebert marveled at Adjani's beauty, writing of her "facial perfection" when she appeared 1979's "Nosferatu the Vampyre."

She seemed to "exist on an ethereal plane," the awestruck critic wrote.

Although she primarily starred in French films, she became a Hollywood staple, receiving another Oscar nomination in 1990, just as her relationship with Daniel Day-Lewis was heating up. The two reportedly split right around the time their son was born in 1995.

Now 63, Adjani remains a sought-after actress and frequents high-profile red carpets, where she never fails to impress. Her glamorous display at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival proved once and for all that age is a very silly thing. See for yourself:
