'Wendy Williams Show' will be hosted by Nick Cannon as Wendy extends 'necessary break'

It's "The Wendy Williams Show," hosted by Nick Cannon.

Amid Williams' ongoing "necessary, extended break from her show," Cannon will take over for Williams on Feb. 4, 5 and 6, according to Page Six. No word yet on whether his time in Williams' chair will continue through the rest of the month.

Williams, 54, initially sparked concern in December after behaving oddly on-air, slurring her words and appearing disoriented. At the time, she attributed the issues to painkillers she was taking for a shoulder injury. She planned to return to filming after the New Year, but the date was pushed to Jan. 14 -- and then again to Jan. 21.

Sometime in that period, she was hospitalized not for her shoulder injury, but for "complications regarding her Graves' disease," her team said in a statement. "Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians, and as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital."

Williams' apparent physical reaction to the shoulder injury painkillers came 5 months after she spoke candidly to ET about a past addiction to cocaine: "I was a functioning addict though,” she said. “I'd report to work on time, and I’d walk in and all my co-workers, including my bosses, would know but since I would have my headphones on and walk in the studio and [they] wouldn’t fire me because I was making ratings."

Although her December slurring incident was alarming for viewers, it wasn't the first time Williams has displayed similar conduct on air. In October 2017, she was mid-sentence when her speech slowed before completely stopping, and she collapsed onto the floor.

Later, she explained, "I overheated in my costume and I passed out. I am a champ and I am back."

Presently, as her repeatedly-extended leave of absence continues, speculation has swirled about other possible reasons why Williams could be keeping a low profile.

Some fans are placing blame squarely on her marital life in light of tabloid reports about her husband's infidelity. He allegedly purchased a home for his mistress nine miles away from the house he shares with Williams.

For her part, Willams is reportedly considering leaving New Jersey and moving to Manhattan, according to Us Weekly.
