Twitter rips into Megyn Kelly as she heads to jury duty: 'Don't worry, they rarely pick racists'

As Megyn Kelly headed to jury duty in New York on Thursday morning, the former "Megyn Kelly Today" host took to Twitter to joke about her unemployment.

"About to begin jury duty this morning," she tweeted. "Slightly concerned about the effectiveness of the 'I'm far too busy' excuse this time."

Of course, the television personality was playfully poking fun at the fact that she is currently without a job after her divisive exit from NBC at the end of October after her defense of blackface sparked an uproar that resulted in her hour of the "Today" show getting cancelled altogether.

Naturally, as has become expected from everything that Kelly posts on social media, many people flooded the responses to her tweet with taunts and criticism.

"Just be yourself," someone replied. "They'll let you out."

"Don't worry," another user wrote. "They rarely pick racists."

Others told her sarcastically that she was "dripping with patriotism" and advised her to "show up for your civic duty with your head high."

"If you don’t get picked, you could always interview Alex Jones again," another critic tweeted. "He seems to have time on his hands too."

The controversial tweet comes less than a week after NBC officially agreed to pay Kelly the remainder of her $69 million three-year contract following her premature termination at the network.

Additionally, Kelly's permanent replacements in the 9 a.m. hour of "Today" have seemingly been solidified: Dylan Dreyer, Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin are co-hosting the segment of the morning show, which has seen ratings spike since the 48-year-old former Fox News anchor's exit.
