Mariah Carey rebukes #10YearChallenge with 'ageless' post: 'Time is not something I acknowledge'

Mariah Carey doesn't "get" the latest viral craze, the #10YearChallenge, nor does she want to.

The "Distance" hitmaker took to social media on Wednesday to share her own take on the challenge, which involves people posting side-by-side photos of themselves ten years apart -- one from 2009 and one from 2019. Stars like Reese Witherspoon, Nicki Minaj, Ryan Seacrest and Caitlyn Jenner have all taken part, but Mariah's post proved once again that she does things her own way.

"I don't get this 10 year challenge, time is not something I acknowledge," she captioned a photo of herself with wet hair and holding her dog in a bikini and kimono that she put side-by-side with itself. "Picture taken at some point prior to today."

Instead of being called out, fans praised Mariah's take on the #10YearChallenge, insisting that she's defied age throughout her career.

"But also you look exactly the same as you did 10 years ago [because] you are an ageless legend," one person replied.

"You aged backwards so it would be pointless," another fan responded.

Plus, Mariah, 48, wasn't lying when she said she doesn't acknowledge time. The singer famously doesn't celebrate her birthdays, instead opting to call them "anniversaries."

"I don't count years, but I definitely rebuke them," she told Observer Magazine in 2014. "I have anniversaries, not birthdays, because I celebrate life, darling."

"Please put a LOL next to this, because people are going to be like, 'WTF?'" she quipped, before adding that she is "eternally 12 years old."
