Grammys 2019: Alicia Keys to host 61st annual show

Updated

Alicia Keys will host the 2019 Grammy Awards.

The Recording Academy and CBS announced on Tuesday morning that the 15-time Grammy winner will host the 61st annual show, which will air on Sunday, February 10. It will be Keys' first time hosting music's biggest night.

"I know what it feels like to be on that stage, and I’m going to bring that vibe and energy," Keys said of the gig. "I'm so excited to be the master of ceremonies on the biggest night in music and celebrate the creativity, power and, magic. I'm especially excited for all the incredible women nominated this year! It's going 'UP' on February 10!"

Keys, who has sold 30 million records throughout her celebrated career, follows late-night host James Corden, who hosted the show the previous two years, and LL Cool J, who had hosted for the five years before that.

The announcement comes as Hollywood's biggest night, the Academy Awards, is in turmoil as the show will reportedly go without a host for the first time in three decades after comedian Kevin Hart dropped out of the show amid controversy around homophobic tweets from his past.

The 2019 Grammys will air on Sunday, February 10, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
