Jerry Stiller, 91, under observation in New York City hospital: Details

Updated

Jerry Stiller, 91, is under observation at a New York City hospital after suffering stroke-like symptoms, but not an actual stroke, on Wednesday.

Although an insider told Radar that Stiller's condition is "serious," a family friend clarified to Page Six that there is "no evidence" he had a stroke: “He had some sort of episode and they wanted to be cautious."

Stiller has made few public appearances since the 2015 death of his wife, Anne Meara, whom he wed in 1954. The two worked as a husband-wife comedy team throughout the '60s and '70s. Later in life, Stiller would star on "Seinfeld" as Frank Constanza and then on "King of Queens" for nearly a decade.

Ben Stiller has not yet made any public comments about his father's condition.
