Lindsay Lohan's nude Instagram throwback prompts backlash over her religion: 'What's the point of converting to Islam?'

Updated

Lindsay Lohan is throwing it back to one of her sexiest photo shoots ever!

The former "Mean Girls" actress took to Instagram on Thursday morning to share a black-and-white photo from her 2011 Marilyn Monroe-inspired photo shoot for Playboy, which showed her posing completely nude while crawling on a lip-shaped couch.

"#ysl #thankyounext #playboy," she captioned the racy snap.

Though many praised Lohan for how incredible she looks in the photo, others took aim at the star, reminding her of her 2016 claims that she wanted to convert to Islam and the multiple times that she's been seen wearing a hijab in public. Commenters made sure to note that Lohan posing nude would be directly against her religion -- if she were indeed Muslim -- and that her Instagram bio says "Salam Aleikum."

"If you really read the Quran (from the paparazzi photo), I guess you would respect Islam," someone wrote. "But, please at least show some respect by deleting the salam in [your] bio. Please show some respect."

"A very unfortunate picture, I thought you were far from these acts because I think you are a Muslim," another person commented.

"Whats the point of converting to Islam! I know many muslims do such things too but when u convert, it's because u appreciate and choose to follow the teachings," someone else added.

"It is your right to take interest on Islam, your right to post this," one user sounded off. "But still.. I am speechless for this post. You deserve an unfollow."

While some of Lohan's followers were soaking up the controversy ("omg all the comments dragging her for being a fake Muslim I love it," one user wrote), others urged her to "find your way back to Christianity."

Lohan did have her fair share of support from fans after the photo ruffled feathers, too.

"There’s too [much] hate here," someone wrote. "You do you girl! Your fans will support you whether you’re a Muslim, Jewish, Christian or whatever. It’s your life and you should be able to pick your own path."

Another fan pointed out that Lohan shouldn't be bothered by all of the blowback for her throwback post, especially considering that she has a thriving career.

"She’s still booked and busy so you’re [sic] negative comments are pointless," one commenter said.

Her new reality show, "Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club," is set to premiere on MTV on January 8.
