TV channels at risk of being cut from cable and satellite

As less people watch traditional TV, cable and satellite companies are cutting channels from their networks.

Axios reports that Comcast and Verizon FiOS will no longer have the Fuse Channel in 2019, with Verizon saying it was too expensive.

This came as more than 1 million people got rid of their cable and satellite TV packages.

Fuse isn’t the only content provider at risk of losing distribution, though.

Axios also reported that FiOS and Disney almost didn’t reach an agreement before December 31, which would have resulted in a programming blackout for Disney Channels in the new year.

Spectrum and Tribune Media agreed to extend their deadline to renegotiate their contract, while Dish also hasn’t reached an agreement with Univision and HBO over distribution costs.

Axios predicts that by 2022, 55.1 million people will have ditched their cable boxes.
