'DWTS' judge Carrie Ann Inaba tapped to officially replace Julie Chen on 'The Talk'

Updated

Julie Chen's seat on "The Talk" is officially no longer hers: After two months of guest judges, CBS has tapped Carrie Ann Inaba to permanently fill the opening.

Inaba, who's sat on the "Dancing With the Stars" judging panel since the ABC show's inception in 2005, has reportedly closed the deal with CBS and will start in January. Both shows film in Los Angeles, but it's not yet clear whether she plans to leave "DWTS."

Chen left "The Talk" in September 2018, two months after The New Yorker published the claims of six women accusing her husband, CBS' then-chairman and CEO Les Moonves, of sexual harassment, misconduct and assault. By September, six additional women had come forward.

Formal investigations into Moonves' alleged behavior have since concluded that Moonves "destroyed evidence and misled investigators in an attempt to preserve his reputation and save a lucrative severance deal," the New York Times reported on Dec. 4. Among other revelations, investigators "received 'multiple reports' about a network employee who was 'on call' to perform oral sex" on Moonves.

Chen has expressed support for her husband and still hosts CBS' long-running "Big Brother."

Inaba will join "The Talk" co-hosts Eve, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood.
