Newlywed Priyanka Chopra responds to article calling her a 'global scam artist'

An article published on New York Magazine’s The Cut accused newlywed Priyanka Chopra, 36, who married Nick Jonas, 26, of “scamming” her husband into marriage.

The piece, which went live shortly following the couple’s three-day nuptials at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace, has since been removed following an outcry from readers.

The article suggested Chopra and her team targeted Jonas for his success, claiming, “Nicholas Jonas married into a fraudulent relationship against his will.”

It continued: “All Nick wanted was a possible fling with Hollywood’s latest It Woman, but instead he wound up staring straight at a life sentence with a global scam artist.”

On Thursday, Chopra responded, telling the Hindustan Times: “I don’t even want to react or comment. It’s not even in my stratosphere. I’m in a happy place at this moment. These kind of random things can’t disturb it.”

Both Chopra’s new brother-in-law, Joe Jonas, and his fiancée, Sophie Turner, responded to the article on Twitter.

British actress Jameela Jamil also weighed in, sarcastically stating it’s “always fun being a South Asian woman in this world.”
