Ariana Grande partners with YouTube for new docuseries

Ariana Grande is launching a new docuseries exclusively on YouTube, it was announced Wednesday.

The four-part YouTube Original titled “Ariana Grande: Dangerous Woman Diaries” will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the singer’s career, including the making of her last album, “Sweetener,” and never-before-seen video from her Dangerous Woman Tour.

Despite her usual appearance in the spotlight, Grande’s personal life — including her recent relationship with “Saturday Night Live’s” Pete Davidson and the death of former boyfriend Mac Miller — will not play a big role in the series. Instead, the show will be focused on her professional life between the time period of her 2017 Dangerous Woman Tour and the creation of “Sweetener.”

New episodes of “Ariana Grande: Dangerous Woman Diaries” will be made available for free on Grande’s YouTube Channel, with the first episode set to debut on Nov. 29 and the remaining three being released every Thursday. If fans want to binge watch the entire series at once they can sign up for YouTube Premium, Google’s $12 per month subscription video and music service.

The new docuseries is part of YouTube’s recent push into ad-supported content. Typically, YouTube’s Original content has been housed behind a paywall, but recently the company has started to make more of its content available for free by supporting the programming with ads. Adding to that effort, the video service announced yesterday that all of its Originals produced in 2020 and after will have an ad-supported window, allowing all YouTube users to watch the content for free.
