New York cop hands tourist $20 so she can see 'Hamilton'

This New York police officer has never seen "Hamilton" before, but he gave a stranger $20 so she could.

A Irish tourist visiting New York City, identified only as Geraldine, stood in line for days to get tickets see the popular show, but when she got to the front of the line, she was $20 short, according to the NYPD

Thankfully, Officer Ricardo DiCandia came to her rescue, handing over the extra money she needed to get her shot at "Hamilton."

Geraldine was so grateful, she sent a letter to the New York City mayor's office, praising DiCandia.

“We were totally overjoyed and beyond grateful when he opened his wallet and just handed us $20," she wrote. "My eldest daughter was crying when she was speaking to him.

"It was without doubt the best night that would not have been possible without Officer DiCandia's generosity and kindness.”

In the letter, she included the $20 she owed, as well as 20 euros for when he decides to visit Ireland.

DiCandia was shocked. "I almost wasn't expecting it because the interaction was so quick, I almost forgot about it," he told Inside Edition.
