Melissa McCarthy’s Etsy addiction has US customs questioning her relationship with Morocco (Video)

Melissa McCarthy wants rugs and she wants them bad.

The “Can You Ever Forgive Me” star stopped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday night to talk about her new film and, more importantly, her somewhat disturbing addiction to Etsy.

The topic came up when she was showing off her dazzling cat vest to Jimmy Kimmel, telling him she bought it from a woman in Columbus, Ohio, through the e-commerce site that deals in handmade and vintage goods.

“I got a bit of a problem with Etsy…” she confessed. “It’s a little, like, at some point, you know Ben [Falcone], my lovely husband? Very mellow, lovely guy. It’s the only thing he’s ever really been like, ‘That’s probably enough.’ Every day it’s like, ‘Oh, it’s a box from Poland!’ And I have no idea. And I’m like ‘It’s a brass bull! What do we do with it?!?'”

McCarthy says she just recently reviewed her purchase history on the side, “and it’s truly like what they make on a crime network … like, that means I’m crazy,” she said.

She told the late-night host her addiction has prompted her to buy many an umbrella stand, decanter and rug. And that last one raised an eyebrow with U.S. customs.

“I actually got a letter from customs that they wanted to know what my involvement was with Morocco,” she said, laughing. “And I was like, ‘Oh, maybe that’s too much.'”

McCarthy explained when she and her husband moved into a new place she quickly got on Etsy and started piling the rugs into her virtual cart.

“And like 2:30 in the morning and then like eight rugs would show up and I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t remember that one at all.’ I get like an Etsy blackout,” she said. “But then I get it and I’m actually really delighted. It sounds like I’m a crazy hoarder, but I’m not!”

“I don’t buy crazy things, guys,” McCarthy said, while once again showing off her sparkly cat vest. Oh, OK, Melissa.
