Teresa Giudice hoping for one season of 'RHONJ' without personal drama: 'I still haven't gotten that'

Updated

Teresa Giudice is still waiting for the day that she can actually enjoy a season of "Real Housewives of New Jersey."

The reality star, who is the only cast member to appear on every season of the hit Bravo show, is currently gearing up for its ninth season amid news that her husband, Joe, has been ordered to be deported once he finishes his current 41-month prison sentence. For Teresa, it's yet another season of "RHONJ" during which she has to deal with overwhelming turmoil in her personal life, and it's a trend that she hopes will come to an end soon.

"I still have sh-t going on, and I can’t wait to just enjoy one season," Teresa told AOL's Gibson Johns during a recent sit-down interview. "It’s always about me every season, and I can’t wait to just enjoy a season. I’ve been through a lot on this show. A lot of heartache. Last season I lost my mom. This season I kind of enjoyed it a little bit, but I still have personal stuff going on that I try to block out, and I’m obviously still dealing with."

"It is part of life, but I’m still hopeful to have that amazing season with no drama personally that’s in the back of my mind," she added. "I still haven’t gotten that. Can’t wait."

Though in some respects Teresa feels as though she's been "made an example of" during her time as a Housewife, she also credited her Bravo family for supporting her over the years when she's gone through various personal obstacles that have made headlines around the world.

"I love that I have a relationship with Andy [Cohen], and he was always there for me through the rough times, so that meant a lot," she told us. "Even from the Bravo family. Everyone is very supportive."

Over the years, as Teresa has had to deal with upheaval in her personal life, she's been able to put certain things into perspective with the help of meditation and yoga, even going so far as to become a certified yoga instructor. It's enabled her to go from flipping over a table in anger during the show's first season to now being noticeably more measured on screen.

"I’m totally different than the way I was," she explained. "Doing yoga and meditating and being so namaste [has helped me]. As you get older, you don’t sweat the small stuff and you’re just like, "Whatever." When you’re younger, you get fired up right away and speak your mind more, but now I can’t even make the time. You have to really piss me off to get me going now."

Judging by the season 9 trailer of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," someone must really piss her off, as she's seen arguing with sister-in-law Melissa Gorga on multiple occasions. Teresa told us that this could be one of the "best seasons yet."

"I have a really good feeling about this season," she told AOL. "I'm excited. Andy Cohen keeps tweeting about it, so that makes me even more excited, because he's so excited over it. He's been texting me privately about it."

Though we'll see her compete in a bikini fitness competition and watch her daughter, Melania, release her first single, it appears as though Teresa's explosive relationship with Melissa will take center stage.

"Me and her both speak our mind," Teresa said of their fireworks. "It’s been pretty ugly, and I don’t want to get into it, but there are other things on the back-end that nobody knows about that made it ugly. I guess some people do know, but it was hurtful to me and I don’t want to go back there. It’s never going to go back to where it was -- not for me anyway, and I don’t think she wants that, either -- and even for the children, I never wanted to show them that ever. You always have to think about the kids and what kind of example you’re setting for them."

Both Teresa and Melissa insist that they're in a better place with one another, and the up-and-down of their friendship is simply part of the equation. As for the two new additions to the show -- Jackie Goldenschneider and Jennifer Aydin -- Teresa said that they "it works" with them as part of the mix.

"You have to click with the rest of the girls," she explained. "If you don’t, you’re out. That’s the way it works. But, this season we do. We don’t always click, but it does work, which I’m excited about. I like for people to stay and not keep switching out."

That being said, don't expect her to bend over backwards for any new cast members. Instead, expect the Bravo veteran to simply be herself and see where the cards fall.

"If I click with the person, I do. If I don’t, I don’t. I don’t go out of my way or anything -- I mean, hello! I’m the OG! Let them go out of their way. I’ve been in this long enough," she explained. "They waited for me to come home, just saying."

"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" season 9 premieres on Wednesday, November 7, at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo
