Cole Sprouse 'fell in love' with Jennifer Aniston on set of 'Friends'

It was love at first sight -- if not exactly mutual -- for Cole Sprouse and Jennifer Aniston.

The "Riverdale" actor appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," where Colbert asked about his childhood role on "Friends." Sprouse played Ben, the young son of Ross Gellar (David Schwimmer).

"Do you remember this moment right here?" Colbert asked as he displayed a photo of 8-year-old Sprouse gazing at Aniston while filming a "Friends" scene.

"That's when I fell in love with her, yeah," Sprouse replied. "I remember feeling so intimidated by my crush on her that I completely blanked and forgot every single one of my line, and she just stared at me and was waiting."

It didn't take long for a crew member to call out the awkwardness -- and nearly two decades later, it's still enough to make a guy blush.

"One of the camera men ... goes, 'That little boy's got a crush!" Sprouse recalled in a loud, booming voice.

Sprouse began acting at 8 months old with his identical twin, Dylan. The two shared roles through childhood, but only Cole appeared on "Friends."

Although he's perhaps most famous for his teenage role on Disney Channel's "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody," Sprouse has said that since "Friends" is now on Netflix, there's a new-generation fanbase recognizing him on the street: "People can call me 'Ben' on the street and I will turn around," he told the New York Post in 2017.

Unfortunately, a reunion between Sprouse and his older co-stars seems unlikely -- he hasn't talked to any of them in years, he said.

"If I saw any of them, I’d say, 'Hello.' But it’s been a while and I certainly don’t look the same, so it’d be a hard sell," he said. "And if I did look the same, that’d be a little disconcerting."
