Obamas option Michael Lewis's Trump administration book for possible Netflix series

The Obamas may have partnered with Netflix after leaving the White House, but they haven’t left politics behind entirely.

Former President Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have optioned Michael Lewis’s book, "The Fifth Risk," about the Trump Administration for a potential TV series, Deadline reports.

The pair has a production deal with Netflix, which is where they’re developing the project based on "The Big Short" author’s latest book.

Entertainment Weekly previewed an interview with Lewis on Katie Couric’s podcast, where Couric suggests the plan is for the Obamas to "come up with a series for Netflix to help people better understand the government."

However, EW suggests that, while they’re developing projects, nothing has been officially greenlit yet.

Released last month, The New York Times bestseller poses the question: “What are the consequences if the people given control over our government have no idea how it works?”

The Fifth Risk delves into the administration’s handling of various government agencies, from the Department of Energy to the Commerce Department.

In its review, USA Today called the book “a brilliant indictment of Trump and his appointees’ foolhardy ignorance of what federal agencies actually do and how.”

The Obamas announced their multi-year Netflix deal in May through their newly-formed Higher Ground Productions shingle.
